Talk Birthy to me

Do-WHAT?? Oh, “Doula!!”

When you’re expecting, you realize there is an array of specializations, certifications, and licenses and they all hold a significance during your pregnancy AND throughout the fourth trimester during your postpartum journey. For many people the word “doula” is first heard during pregnancy. So, let’s doula this! They not only help you prepare for birth, but they support you and your family postpartum and beyond.

What is A Doula? - the real definition ;)
Doulas are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before and after childbirth to help mothers/families achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.  At Casa Mamá,  our doulas are your dedicated companions throughout your postnatal journey, offering a multifaceted array of support. Serving as both mentors and friends, they bring expertise in newborn care, maternal health, lactation, and baby sleep training. With firsthand experience and professional training, our doulas understand the challenges and joys of early parenthood. Offering support, education, and guidance, we are here to walk you through these first few days with your baby. While we are not a replacement rather a complement to the care provided by healthcare providers, they also become integral members of your support network, available to answer questions and offer guidance whenever you need it, day or night. Whether you're a first-time parent or seasoned veteran, our doulas are here to walk alongside you, providing comfort, education, and reassurance every step of the way.

Okay, now what about lactation consultants?
A lactation consultant is a nursing professional who helps new moms in their efforts to breastfeed.  Many women meet with a lactation consultant or specialist from the hospital staff after delivery, but it is often rushed and impersonal.  When mothers arrive at home with their baby, they can feel overwhelmed if there are latch issues or other concerns that often come with breastfeeding for first time moms.

Casa Mama's lactation consultants, including IBCLCs (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants), are here to provide comprehensive support for all your breastfeeding needs. Whether you have questions about breastfeeding techniques, pumping, milk storage, or addressing common challenges like engorgement, mastitis, slow weight gain, or clogged ducts, our experts are here to guide you every step of the way. We understand that navigating the world of breastfeeding can be overwhelming, which is why we're dedicated to offering personalized assistance tailored to your unique situation.

Did you just yawn? If you're feeling the effects of sleep deprivation, you're not alone. We recognize the struggle that new parents go through to get the rest they need. That's why we're here to offer solutions to help your baby sleep better, providing support and strategies to improve sleep quality for both you and your little one. So if you're ready to say goodbye to sleepless nights, Casa Mama is here to support you on your journey to better sleep and breastfeeding success.

What is a Sleep Consultant?

“Is she sleeping through the night?” You might hear that question a lot as new parents. Fellow parents are eager, hoping that if you answer, “yes,” you might reveal sought-after tips, strategies, and secrets for success!  But a medical study concluded that the majority of developmentally normal, healthy babies do not sleep through the night. So, if your little one has yet to sleep through the night, rest assured, you're not alone! We understand the exhaustion and frustration that can come with sleepless nights and can help you implement the tools to better sleep and hopefully longer stretches for your baby.

Your doula at Casa Mamá will work with you through sleep related issues and concerns.  They will address your specific needs to develop a plan that works for you and your family so that your baby feels comfortable and safe during sleep, and so you can finally get the rest you need, too.

Now that you’re abreast with all Casa Mamá has to offer, contact us if you need any help throughout your postpartum journey.  We want to elevate the postnatal experience for you and your family, creating unforgettable moments where parenthood finds sanctuary.
